Dual Storage System

Reef Tracker uses a dual storage approach:

  • Local Storage: Data is stored on your device for offline access and quick performance
  • Cloud Storage: Data is encrypted and stored in AWS DynamoDB for synchronization across devices

Security Measures

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • AWS Cognito authentication with JWT tokens
  • Encrypted data transmission using HTTPS/TLS
  • Secure password storage with hashing and salting
  • Regular security audits and updates

However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we collect and store push subscription data to send you alerts about your aquarium parameters. This includes device-specific tokens and notification preferences. You can disable push notifications at any time through the app settings or your browser settings.

6. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With trusted third-party service providers (like AWS) who assist in operating our application

8. Cookies and Local Storage

We use browser local storage to save your authentication tokens, application settings, and aquarium data for offline functionality. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you're logged in and syncing data.

9. Third-Party Services

Reef Tracker uses the following third-party services:

  • AWS (Amazon Web Services): For authentication (Cognito) and database (DynamoDB)
  • Stripe: For payment processing (if using premium features)

These services have their own privacy policies and we encourage you to review them.

10. Children's Privacy

Reef Tracker is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately and we will delete that information.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and maintained on servers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction. By using Reef Tracker, you consent to the transfer of information to facilities located in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate.
